Joseph Turton
Theatre & film director, producer, and educator exploring complex parables where spectacle and silence meet.
About Me.
Joseph is a theatre and film director, producer, and educator based in London. His work explores the tension between spectacle and silence—building complex, often unresolved performance worlds that function as modern parables. Joseph is drawn to stories that resist resolution and performances that press into ambiguity, asking more than they answer.
Joseph trained in Theatre and Performance at London Metropolitan University, completed an MA in Actor Training and Coaching at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and is now undertaking a PhD at Guildford School of Acting. His research looks at theatricality and antitheatricality in contemporary Stanislavsky-based actor training—examining how technique can both shape and resist the act of performance.
Joseph directs and produces across stage and screen, alongside teaching actors in both formal and workshop settings.
